Below is our weight comparison for the original BMW 22 kWh and 42 kWh packs, as well as the MTG 54 kWh upgrade. You can see that the 54 kWh battery module is actually around 1 kg lighter than the original 42 kWh version. This is thanks to advances in battery manufacturing technology over time, which allow for higher capacity at lower weight. Importantly, we have not altered the original structural interface design—we simply use entirely new structural components to replace the old ones. As you have stated, the construction of our module assemblies is not exactly the same as the original modules. All questions about the strength of similar construction came from a dealer selling used i3 battery packs in Europe. This is slander for commercial gain and goes far beyond technical discussion. This businessman has no knowledge of the structural strength of battery packs: 1. the structural strength is provided by the pressed structure at the bottom of the battery pack, the side panels serve to hold the battery module to the bottom panel. 2. the side panels are hollow structures bolted to the bottom to provide support for the bottom. 3. the battery itself is a small aluminium box, not a soft pack battery, and its structural strength is much higher than the side panels
